Composer and bandleader Darcy James Argue is the subject of two new companion interviews conducted by Jason Crane for JazzDIY, the online trade journal for the 21st century jazz musician, and his pre-eminent jazz interview podcast, The Jazz Session.

In the six-part video interview for JazzDIY, Argue talks about a variety of industry-related subjects, including his experiences building an audience for his music through the Web, managing and leading his own 18-piece big band, applying for grants and reacting to the sudden and widespread media response to his 2009 debut, Infernal Machines (New Amsterdam Records).

His hour-long audio interview for The Jazz Session, conducted directly after, focuses on the details of Brooklyn Babylon, Argue’s innovative multimedia collaboration with graphic artist Danijel Zezelj, which had its inaugural four-night run at The Brooklyn Academy of Music this past November. Argue, who continues to perform scaled-down selections from the score at gigs with his band Secret Society, also talks about his relationship with the late Bob Brookmeyer and his upcoming March 9th performance at Galapagos Arts Space in Brooklyn.
